Life is not fair. You people should know this.

Just because life isn't fair doesn't mean people can do whatever they want without consequences.

People can and there's nothing you can do about it.

Umm, there IS something you can do about it.

Report it when you see it.

The Brian, condoning cheating DOES encourage it. Think about it.

"If he is able to cheat without getting caught, he deserves the score."

This is one of the dumbest things I have ever read, and given the stupidity displayed by the people in this thread who think there's nothing wrong with this guy cheating, that's saying something. Even if I do say so myself.

This thread depresses me about the state of our youth (who are supposed to be the leaders of tomorrow) today. I see that some people are too self-centered to do something about a situation if it does not directly and personally affect or benefit him or her (so much for charity and philanthropy). Others somehow see being "clever" enough to get away with cheating as justification for it (using the same logic, being smart enough to get away with a bank robbery makes it okay). And a few adopt a pessimistic view of the world, resigned to the perception that it's "unfair" and that one is powerless to prevent or correct things such as cheating. (I like to take a more proactive approach to life and its problems.) And, as I've noted before, it's somehow seen as wrong by many to report cheating. (It is precisely this culture and belief that perpetuate the phenomenon. Imagine if government employees were too afraid or unwilling to report misuse of taxes or other funds or other forms of corruption because that would be being a "snitch.") I really hope that these posts are not representative of high school students today.

BTW, to the OP, the essay section of the SAT is one big handwriting sample, so it would not be difficult at all to prove that your "friend" hired someone else to take the test for him.

my friend took the sat the other day, and the kid next to him cheated of of him on every question. They have identical answer sheets. He thinks he got a 2400, It is both their first times taking the test. Will collegeboard be suspicious and cancel their scores or are they both fine

last saturday there was a girl sitting in front of me who went back to the previous sections while the teacher isn’t looking…i wasn’t sure if she’s really cheating so i didnt do anything…when the teacher got near her she ignored what shes doing…either shes not really cheating and im hallucinating because of that hard exam or the teacher just didnt really care…lol lol…but it really looked suspicious coz she was using the calculator lol

they might not get caught now but who knows…they might not survive college because of their stupid behavior…

i dont condone “cheating” but the OP sounds jealous because he wasnt smart enough to use to same method to get a 2330 on SAT

The OP is complaining because he got a lower score than the guy who cheated. If the OP studied hard enough for the sat he wouldn’t care about what the cheater got.

^cheating is wrong. period. what does this have to do with the OP’s scores???

i agree its not jealousy when you work 10 times as hard as someone who cheats. go report who ever did it. At least after you do, you’ll know you’ve done the most you can in the name of justice.

I would say that you should definitely report the cheaters. If not to collegeboard, at least to the kid’s guidance counselor. My dad is a guidance counselor and he told me a story of how a kid in his school got his SAT score invalidated because he scored ~650 on math, but he was averaging in the 60s in his algebra class.

slando, there is something wrong with this society because people are bystanders. They think that it’s up to fate to punish cheaters. They would rather keep silent than risk doing the right thing and then being ostracized for it. That is why our society is so dishonest.

Personally, I think you should report the cheating problem even if nothing is done about it. Reporting an injustice does not make you a “snitch.”

Why are you posting to the OP who started this thread 5 years ago and hasn’t posted since 2006?
