Reporting Excused Withdrawal from College Course to Schools

I’m taking a college course on Linear Algebra that will not go on my high school transcript/give me any high school credit. I am also taking a math class at my high school. I would like to take an excused withdrawal for the college course, as I was just taking it for fun and not for any college credit or placement, but I already submitted my applications to colleges. Will I have to report an EW to them if the class was just for fun?

If you have already included the college course in your application materials, yes you should report the withdrawal. What do you mean by “excused withdrawal”? Was it for medical reasons? Is there a W on the transcript? A medical withdrawal can sometimes mean no W appears on the transcript.

If the course was “just for fun” do you mean you took it for non-credit and basically audited it? If so there would be no W because it wasn’t graded. But, again, even in that case, if you listed it on your application you should let the schools know.

Talk to your guidance counselor to confirm what I am suggesting. The GC knows more about your situation.

The college I’m taking it at allows for excused withdrawal during this semester because of Covid, so it will appear as an EW on the college transcript. By “for fun” it will still get a grade I just meant I wasn’t aiming to have any credits transfer when I go to college.

You took the class for a grade. It doesn’t matter if you planned on submitting it for credit at college. If the class was listed in your application , you have to notify the colleges that you withdrew. It’s fine.
