Request - CC forum coverage of Military Colleges

It is requested that CC consider creating a forum specifically for colleges with a military preparation focus, along with sub-forums for each appropriate college. These forums would be intended for students wishing to enroll in such a program and it is OK if these are listed somewhere else on CC, because there are a lot of them that have separate military curriculum/focus/cadet-corps, etc and thus deserve a separate place to discuss these programs. It may also be prudent to have a parent sub-forum for this group of colleges. Thank You - "Service Academy Parents"

Running list... of Military preparation/focus colleges/institutes (4-year).

The Citadel
Maine Maritime Academy
The State University of New York Maritime College
North Georgia College and State University
Norwich University
Texas A&M University
Virginia Military Institute
Virginia Tech
Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership at Mary Baldwin College
Massachussetts Maritime Academy
Maritime College, State University of New York
California Maritime Academy

I second that. Please don't leave out Suny Maritime. This probably creates some work for someone & I'd like to say how much we appreciate all you do (whoever you are!)

i completely support that proposal. with all my heart.

especially for the Citadel and VMI!

Great idea, Dad. Did you send an e-mail to Roger Dooley? It seems as if CC could just change the name of the US Service Academy board to Military Colleges (or something appropriate) and it would include all of the sa's as well as the Parents' Forum. It could also include some of the civil prep schools as well as NAPS and USMAPS among others.

Not my Idea (Jamzmom gets that credit). Just following up from this thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=123178&page=2&pp=36

Maritime at SUNY is on the list...just have to look carefully!

I did PM Roger and send a message to the webmaster.
Someone else (everybody who is willing) should email Roger also

Don't forget NMMI...

Ok. Here we go again. I had nothing to do with the idea. I just run with them. I'm fessing up. Vcm, can I tell them where I got the idea? TOO BAD! Gonna tell anyhow. Vcm & I were talking & thought perhaps The Citadel should have its own forum for kids who are interested. I just added that it should be included along with other military colleges so that people could explore other options. Not every kid thats wants in, gets into a service academy as we know. That leaves some really good kids looking for a plan B school. Do a search on VMI or Norfolk or The Citadel in CC. Nuthin' other than a brief mention here and there in conversations. The colleges don't have a voice here. And as much as I realize that ya can't very well have every local school, (i.e. Your town Tech) Maybe its a grand idea to have just "a" military colleges on-line here for the open discussion. Wow. One idea is enough for the day. It hurts me. Vcm, its time for some Van Morrison, not to be confused with Jim Morrison. Altho CCR rates right up there too. You are a young hippy kid. :)
No way to forget NMMI! Can't you see CC scratching their heads? Do we call it military colleges, but then theres the military colleges that are prep and where do we put the maritime colleges.... Sorry you CC folks. If you need some help, I'm free on Thursday! :)

I had NMMI in there, but someone pointed out they are a college prep and 2-year junior college only. I considered that the list would grow very large if we include all the prep academies and junior colleges, so I took it off the list (reluctantly) and stuck with 4-year colleges only.

Of course someone could also request a forum for military prep other than 4-year colleges.

North Ga is one of four in the nation that are four yr. colleges. YAY! I looked that up just now cause I thought it was a 2 yr. So, if we were CC, how would we set this up? Just do "Military Colleges" and go to sub forums like Citadel, VMI, ect.? (notice I mention only the southern schools, yankees) Probably "Prep Schools" should stay in the Service Academy Forum & the military colleges maybe go to "Colleges"? Hmmmm. A project!! What fun!

Jamzmom,

Thanks for the hippy comment. 'Preciate being called a flower child hehe

Thanks for getting our conversation out into public...now it can be known and our dreams come true. haha

Love,
Victor Miranda

PS- Break on through.

Jamzmom -
Heck, you had me so paranoid that I'd forget 'your' suggestion, that I actually put SUNY Maritime on the list TWICE...Ha Ha! And you missed both of them :D

JM-It's a marvelous night for a moon dance!

VCM-The soft parade has now begun...

JM-Stuck in lodi again!

VCM-Riders on the storm!

New category-classic rock liked by service academy families!

I was just seeing if you were paying attention Dad! Uh... Really I missed it, sorry. :D

Hey vcm - "to the other side"
And "our dream? I am NOT going to The Citadel with you my Doors buddy. I'd die within the first two hours and they'd have to make the Knobs bury me in the quad using only a toothpick to dig my grave. I hear thats where all the X-Knobs are buried.

Edit! Edit! after seeing Boss' post! Who'll Stop the Rain!! We are old left over hippies!! Gotta love it.

boss....excellent classics.

jamz....well, i was mainly talking about our dreams of The Citadel being added to the forum, but hey, what the heck. the more dreams the merrier!

ah yes...riders on the storm...into this house we're born....into this world we're thrown...

i would continue, but this is a military forum. lol

oh and jamz...did you know that the day destroys the night, and the night divides the day? tee hee.

Well, I guess Roger now knows what will really be discussed in the proposed new forums....yaah!

But, just another thread Sabotaged ... ;)

3 or 4 posts about the doors aren't going to influence anything, especially if there are a kajillion more threads in the forum about military academies and whatnot.

...at least i dont think so

vcm, you do realize that even though Morrison put out some great rock & roll, there was a little something wrong with his upstairs? A little woo woo in the head. :) Wanted to share something with you that you might find interesting:

oh, jim morrison was of course a bit crazy. 75% of the time drunk, and about 20% of the time on some kind of trip. for example, if you listen to "five to one", you can tell he's quite inebriated.

good music tho.

oh, and thanks for the link. i had actually read that before. but i will DEFINITELY be showing that to my old man. thanks!

Hi, we'll take a look at this and try to come up with a good solution. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks Roger for looking at our idea. We really do appreciate it.
