That would be nice since myself, my husband, our daughter, my sister, my brother-in-law, my father-in-law, my nephew and his wife, and my niece and her husband are graduates of Texas A&M. However, one of my nephews defected to Oklahoma this fall so I guess our son will join him in defecting! Either place would have been great opportunities for him, and we are happy for him. Our nephew went to A&M and was selected for ENJJPT and is training on F-16s now so it works to go that way also.

Oklahoma :0 Isn't that breaking some Texas law? Will they let him cross the border and return JK :)

Congrads to both kids from the HS. It is really funny how the appointments flow like that. Potters HS sent 2 to USAFA, 1 to USNA, and 1 to USMA when she graduated. Las Vegas has about 20 High Schools and it is unusual to have 1SA kid, so 4 from the same place was really different.

Our son also has a good friend in his class trying to go to the USNA so we may have three from our high school. Great resume - but just tore up his ACL in football and has to have surgery. We are hoping that he can still get in because he is a great kid, very fast and athletic, and highly ranked in his class. Our son said he had no desire to live on a boat!

Hum, my school had 1 USNA, 1 USMA, 1 USMMA, me at USAFA, and one other did FF and is in the class of 2011 here right now.

wow, that is a lot, my school (Which wasn't that small at about 400 per class) only had me at USAFA and one other guy go to USMA.

I'll be the third one to go to a Service Academy from my school (provided I get my nomination). We had two brothers go to the Merchant Marines 6 or 7 years ago.

I was the first one in about 15 years to go to a service academy from my HS.

Interestingly, Soaring Son and another guy from here went to Junior High together - then to rival High Schools - and are now both members of CS-23. We were very surprised when they were assigned to same squadron.

I'm the only person from my high school, which has been around for over 50 years, to be accepted to ANY service academy.

Soaring Dad- same situation here. I was at Katy Taylor and my freshman roomie went to Cinco!

My HS sends out a lot to service academies and we're really not that big. But, welcome to virginia...

Question for everyone about squads. Do they match you randomly? Or is there some complicated math formula, that takes X amount of things into consideration, that they stick you into and it spits you out on the other end with a number.

I hope that's not either really obvious or stupid.

They try to balance academic strength, gender, athletics, etc. as best they can.

Viper,

You aren't from NC are you? Where I went to HS sent their first cadet this year - and it (the HS) was opened in 1925.

no, i lived in a tiny military post in the middle of the Utah desert. only 87 people in high school. but it was a blast!! big shock of so many people when i came here! my squad is the size of the high school and middle school!
