Requesting Interviews

I'm going to apply EA for MIT, and I was wondering when I should contact my interviewer. I don't want to email her too early or too late. Also, I'm applying RD for many other schools; when should I request those interviews?

Each college handles interviews differently. Some offer on-campus interviews the summer before your Sr year or shortly into the Fall. Others will contact you if they have enough volunteers in your local area. For my alma mater, our alumni volunteers contact students once they’ve applied, not before. And many don’t get called b/c there aren’t enough volunteers. That’s how it goes. Only rarely, are interviews requisite – although conventional wisdom is MIT is definitely one of those.

like ^ said, it’s generally after you apply if you are meeting in your area and only before if you are doing a campus interview typically during the summer as a part of a visit

So I should contact my MIT interviewer around when I’m finished with my app?

I would assume so.

You get the interviewer’s name via your myMIT account…and i assume you don’t get that until you apply.

No, it showed up when the app opened. I feel like it’s better to contact a little earlier…?
