Dear all,
I’m about to take a summer course as part of my graduate program. Just received a syllabus from the Professor and to be honest I really want to do well in her course. In the field and career plans I’m pursing the faculty member would be excellent to have on my side.
It’s a seminar format set up like so:
Three weekend seminars.
Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
It’s a topic I’m very knowledgeable about and love discussing. But I’m worried I’ll inadvertently talk too much.
The syllabus is broken down like so:
(1) Class Participation (20% of overall grade)
"This class is a seminar with relatively small enrollment. Active participation is necessary to maintain an interesting, lively, and productive discussion. Therefore, your level of class participation will constitute a meaningful percentage of your overall grade. You will be graded on the quality of your contributions and level of engagement in the class. "
(2) Written Thought Responses (40% of overall grade)
The written responses will be graded on a scale of zero to four points:
4 points: Incorporates some of the assigned material into the response and provides insightful analysis and original thinking
3 points: Incorporates some of the assigned material into the response in an organized and coherent manner
2 points: Summary of some of the assigned material but does not respond to the discussion question
1 point: Minimal indication that assigned material was reviewed
0 points: Response not submitted - This part is performed over Blackboard…
The presentation we give each Sunday session is worth 40% of your grade.
In each session how many educated remarks when appropriate should I make?
Thanks.
