I am going to apply for UPenn's class of 2018, so I have a few questions :

What scores do you need on SAT I (and how many if you are an Asian and want to apply for finacial aid as well ?)

Which SAT II subject tests should you take if you are going to apply for Wharton School / College of Arts and Sciences ?

What extracurricular activities do you need ?

If you cannot take the TOEFL, will taking the IELTS lessen your chance of being admitted ?

Advanced Placement Exams and International Baccalaureate are not common in my country, so is that going to be a disadvantage ?

2200+ for CAS. Around 2300 for Wharton.

This you can find on the UPenn wesbite. SAT II Math is a must for Wharton.

There isn’t a specific guideline as to what sort of extracurricular activities you need. Do what you’re passionate about, don’t do things for the sake of padding resumes. Trust me, if you do something you truly enjoy doing, you’ll get good results. If you’re applying to Wharton, you don’t need to do strictly business/finance ecs.

No.

No, but you should show initiative by self-studying some APs. Our school doesn’t offer AP or IB, but every kid who has gone to ivy leagues (from our school) self-studied at least five APs (and got 4s or 5s on them all).

I agree with above poster, but applying for financial aid as an international student is going to seriously hurt your chances.

Thank you for answering. I know applying for financial aid will be a disadvantage, but I don’t really have another choice.

And about the extracurricular activites, if I work for family business, will it be counted ? And will I need proofs for every ECs I took part it ?

Yes
No.

I assume you mean class of 2019. If you are indeed applying as a transfer to the class of 2018, your chances are greatly reduced.

Also, Penn exercises a need-blind policy towards Canadians and Mexicans. So if you have a citizenship from any of these two countries, then applying for FA won’t hurt you that much.

Stats that got me into Penn (CAS):

SAT: 1860
SAT II: Bio: 720, Physics: 650.
TOEFL: 106

I did not take any IB or AP tests. As extracurriculars I had multiple sports (tennis, basketball, soccer), work as a volunteer (teaching children sports), and two jobs. I’m from Europe but besides that I don’t represent any special minority.

Some people might tell you it is impossible to get into schools like Penn, but don’t let them destroy your dream. Of course, let’s be realistic, it’s going to be difficult and in some cases nearly impossible to get in, but there is always a small chance.

If you do get into Penn, come! it’s an amazing experience and one of the best and most fun schools in the world.

@collegeee123454 You probably have something that is really standoutish and unique! I have seen very few picture without hooks get accepted with a below 2000 SAT score.

I agree that I am one of the few people that have no hooks and a SAT below 2000 on campus. I do have to say that a worked on my application and essays for a long time and I thought they were outstanding. Besides this, I probably was just very lucky, but that goes for everyone who is accepted since there are at least 10 people with a comparable application that got rejected.
