I plagiarized on a essay at a local community college while in High School and got disciplinary probation, what are the chances I get rescinded from the university of Cincinnati?
Did you acknowledge this academic dishonesty in your application. Did your GC document it (as s/he should have) in your recommendation?
@TopTier this happened after I applied to schools and I’m already accepted into Cincinnati
@skulger: I suggest you ask your GC immediately, if/how s/he will notify the colleges to which you’ve applied. Regardless of the responses, I believe it would be wise for you to notify Cincinnati first, probably in a manner recommended by your GC. Here’s why I suggest you do so:
- It seems very likely that Cincinnati will be advised by your secondary school (possibly, the CC as well).
- If you’re not proactive and you do not notify Cincinnati, the University might well perceive your inaction as another deceitful deed (and, with two unethical acts, I have little doubt your acceptance will be revoked).
- On the other hand, if you advise UC soon, admit your mistake, take full responsibility, and make NO EXCUSES, there’s a chance they may perceive you as having made a serious error, but being fundamentally honorable, and not rescind your acceptance.
One way or the other, you should be prepared to attend a CC for a few years and then to reapply for colleges, with contrition and full accountability.
