Rescinded Acceptance?

Hi guys :)
So I was accepted ED to dartmouth for next fall, but over the course of the 4th marking period i went through a rough time... my grandmother (whom I was incredibly close to) died, girlfriend of 3 years and I broke up, etc.. long story short, I'm probably gonna end up with a failing grade in a class 4th marking period ( the rest are B's and A's)

This F will make my end of the year avg for that class C. I have A averages in all other classes.

Just so i can dispel/justify my paranoia, what are your thoughts on my acceptance being rescinded? Possible/probable, or not?

Thanks!

You’re probably OK. Losing a close family family member is an extenuating circumstance that the college would probably accept.

I was also accepted to dartmouth and I’m worried about the same thing. My gpa was 4.1 the first semester and for reasons I won’t make excuses for, my final gpa for the last semester is about 3.5. Do you think my admission will be rescinded?

I don’t think that either of you will be rescinded, but I think that in the case of receiving an actual failing grade for a quarter you might want to write a letter or contact them. But before that, talk to your teacher and find out if there is ANYTHING you can do to pull your grade up

@ OP – they might get in touch with you regarding the failing grade in which case you will need to explain what happened. Given the circumstances I don’t think your acceptance will be rescinded.

Only the final grade will be reported. The college won’t see the failing grade. You’re fine.
