Rescinded from swarthmore

Hi, I got my Alevel results today. I unexpectedly flunked the exam of general paper which is like an essay writing exam and I am pretty sure it is some technical mistake on the examination board’s part because my exam went really fine and it has happened before to friends and seniors who got em rechecked and ended up with top grades. I got a d in it. I got 3A+ and 1 A in other subjects. So i am scared that would Swarthmore rescind my admission? My college counsellor says that I should see if they point it out and that colleges usually dont care about dip in one subject. Has it happened to anyone else?

Are those grades your final course grades? In the States a D is a concern for most colleges, especially for a top tier school like Swarthmore. I would get the exam rechecked and I would contact Swarthmore adcom right away. Maybe your college counselor can assist.

yeah they are…but rechecking would take around 2 months.

but for this exam, we have the following grades: A, B, C, D and so on. not the A+, A, A- stuff

Contact Swarthmore and speak with someone.
It is strange you would have all As and 1 D.

This is unfortunate. I agree that you should contact Swarthmore. My concern is what happens with Swarthmore if two months goes by and the grade is confirmed.

Aren’t you starting next week? They aren’t going to rescind once you’ve started. Not sure of the timeline here.

Privatebanker makes a great point. If move in day is imminent, move in and move on.

I think matriculation is contingent on receiving the final transcript.

Like @privatebanker said, aren’t you starting soon? Quick, pay the bill!!! lol

Contact Swat admissions. Let them know what’s up. I think they will work with you. It’s a small school, they chose you for good reasons and they won’t want to rescind you. You have a strong argument (the other courses) that you didn’t slack off this last term, they might have some contingency that you do an extra course if that regrade doesn’t show improvement but truly, trust that they aren’t heartless idiots.
