Rescinding Admissions

I'm a high school senior recently accepted to NU. I plan to attend this wonderful school next year, but I have a few concerns (euphemism) over my admissions being rescinded. My grade point average when applying was 3.771. 2nd trimester, I received 3 A's, 2 B's, 1 B-, and 1 C+. In addition to that C+ (in AP Physics), my teacher changed my 1st trimester's A- down to a C+ (his grading policy.) My grade point average is now a very low 3.7.

On a brighter note, I'm the only student for the last 8 years in my highschool that has taken all the AP classes offered (Independent studies and summer school included). My courseload this year consists of AP Statistics, AP Calculus BC, AP Senior English, AP Spanish, AP Physics, Leadership, and a mini senior required class taken 3 times a week.

I could lie right now and say I tried my hardest and still received these grades, but to be honest, senioritis has hit me hard. These C+'s are the first C's I've ever received in my life. I predict my grades for this third trimester to be 4 A's and 3 B's (more or less). Is NU likely to rescind my application? I know I caused this to happen to myself, but it's killing me inside and I even find difficulty in sleeping at night thinking about that chance I might not end up in Evanston next year.

In addition to wondering about my chances of being rescinded, I'm also wondering about the process. Will they first send me a mail asking for an explanation, or will they ruthlessly give me no second chance? I have won COUNTLESS awards spanning the gamut of FBLA and Speech and Debate (State finalist) even after I applied (implying they were not on my application), will those be able to help me? And if I were to be rescinded... what happens to me then? I won't be able to go crawling back to the other colleges I was accepted to... right? Thanks for any and all input ahead of time.

Don't worry, NU has said that they won't consider rescinding our admissions unless we have D's and/or F's. :) Not that that means it's okay to settle for all C's, but hopefully it'll ease your worrying a bit.

klee20, you sound like me! i have a C this year, and it's a low one. and i'm even struggling to keep it a C and not any lower... which totally bothers me, especially the no-college-to-go-to part, b/c i was ED. so hopefully getting ONE D does not mean an automatic rejection....

I laugh so hard at you people who worry over one C. Gosh.

I got accepted into NU with a 3.9 and senioritis has not just hit hard...It ing * slapped me into a coma, seriously.

I have 2 Cs and the rest Bs.

...

Ouch :).

oh my goshhh how can you laugh about this? i'm usually happy by personality, but the possibilities of failing and going to no college and wasting a year of my life because nu resinded my offer of admission are pretty depressing!

like said in an earlier thread -- in the past it seems nu only even CONSIDERS rescinding admissions if you have multiple C's or D's. and no college is eager to rescind a decision so unless you massively screwed up, don't worry.

Very comforting replies... Maybe I'll get some more sleep for the rest of my spring break. Let us all keep our fingers crossed, I hope to see each and every one of you next year at Evanston (that is, if NU is your #1 school).

What if I drop a class? Will my admission be rescinded?

Dropping a class is not a really great idea; they accepted you for, among other things, the rigor of your senior courseload. Play it safe and contact admissions before making the move to drop a course.
