Rescinding merit scholarships???

To current students(and parents) or staff at Tulane:

Has anyone heard of merit scholarships (especially Dean's Honor Scholarship, because I received my letter today) being rescinded due to low funds after Katrina? Should I be worried about this?

No, and that would not seem likely considering that the decision to offer the scholarships came well after Katrina.

We asked that same question to Dr. Whiteside (Head of admissions) when we went to check out S's belongings in November. He emphatically denied it.

They even went so far as to credit us for fall tuition paid locally even though we don't have to pay tuition at Tulane. Attending another school did not cost us anything additional this year.

Those of us with students in Engineering (in the phased out majors)have been reassured numerous times that if our kids choose to stay at Tulane in a different major, their DSA/DHS/Founders awards will continue. I don't think you need to worry.
