Research Paper Question (mollie if you do not mind answering :) )

Hey,

My mentor at the hospital I am interning at said the hospital might not allow me to send in a research paper (also because I am still working on it)... They say there might be a lot of patient confidentiality issues and they dont want me to send it due the risk... I wonder if there is an alternate method to send them the gist of my project... its due to the fact of the surgical cases i researched and asking all of them for a patient confidentiality waiver for this thing is asking to much...

Someone mind telling me if it is worth sending on in light of these small problems i've listed... another thing is i continued the research project in india and dubai as well... so itll be double the work asking for patient confidentiality waiver from the past patients i was working with in india/dubai...

You could ask your mentor if it would be possible to send the abstract of the paper. Abstracts don't usually contain identifying information, as they include only a brief summary of the data and not the data itself.

Alternately, you can write a paragraph about the research and its impact on you rather than the research itself. This can be more helpful in terms of college admissions than sending a full research paper, since MIT will likely not have time to have it evaluated fully in a technical manner.

Ok, i will make sure to fax it to them rather than mail... im kinda worried because i sent in 2 supplementary materials already and within the coverletter i wrote a Post script stating it might not be possible to send in a research paper... but i will contact them to ignore that

So i guess ill send both... im sure they wont mind me sending in an abstract... and it wont hurt sending in the alternate option u suggested along with it

Yup abstract is the way to go
