I looked around and couldn't find any answers, but how does one do research with an institute and/or a professor? Do you apply/send in an application? Call the institute? Ask the professor?

Thanks in advance.

well, have you tried asking your science teacher who might know someone at a university.

Do you apply/send in an application? In HS? iono

Call the institute? i wouldn't
Ask the professor? best chance you have

you seem desperate. btw, what class are you? ('07?)

You might try doing your own research. Look into the the Young Epidemiology Scholars competition for high school students. You might enjoy this (although it is a huge undertaking). Do an online search for info.

I think most people who work in research while in high school have a parent (or uncle, or aunt, or cousin's brother's son...) who are working with the research and provide the opportunity for the high school student. You could try emailing professors at a local university if you want and see what you can come up with. Offer to provide entry level help - for free - which probably means washing supplies, cleaning up, etc... Some colleges require volunteers to be 18 (this is the case with Emory in Atlanta), so that might be a problem if you are under 18.

What should I write in the email?
