I know it may be later than usual, but I have 3 questions regarding research.
3 questions:
-
How would I find professors who are conducting research along with networking? I tried to look at local colleges and have not found pages for professors or research unless it’s a private research college like NYU. I have only found 2, both of which I already emailed. I live on the border of Orange and Ulster County in NY. I tried SUNY schools, but couldn’t find anything.

My parents and I tried calling colleges, but people aren’t picking up since it’s a long weekend. Would it be too late to call Monday?

If I can’t find anyone who would be willing, how can I conduct independent research?
FYI, target school is MIT. I have SAT score and stuff and just need to focus on extracurriculars.
Too late for what? There is no context for your question. What year are you in high school? What do you want to research? Are you in a science or humanities research program at school? If so, the teacher at your school or your mentor should be the best person to help you. Randomly contacting professors at universities isn’t likely to get you what you are looking for.

I recommend asking one of your teachers. I agree that randomly calling college profs will not get you far.

It’s July, and you are looking for something to help your college applications and you have heard that doing research looks good to unis such as MIT, yes?

The guy who wrote it is still at MIT.
I suggest you refer back to this thread, because you had some very good suggestions. My EC’s are weak. Any advice? - #2 by Dunshire
At this stage, scrambling to find a research opportunity is probably not the best use of your time. It might have been good to have acted on the feedback you received in June. It’s not too late to do that.
