Research Science Institute 2005

just giving you guys a heads up. being a rickoid is pretty tiring and scary. I went to the MIT admitted student party, and someone was like "are you staticsoliloquy...nghi right?" and i was shocked to death. They asked me about RSI and MIT and RSI and RSI. AHHH. And plus, whoever is a rickoid have to start another thread next year and help other prospective rickoids get in :)

"with great power comes great responsibilities" haha

a belated congrats wrath, very impresssive!

doesn't it annoy you guys that uchicago wouldn't shut up about how many nobel laureates it had
No, not really, since being laureate is just a tad more presigious, awesome, and generally awe-inspiring than being student body president in high school.

Dude, nghi, if I am accepted, I will start the thread in August ... well not that early, but you get the idea, haha. This thread was very informative, let alone humorous.

And, on that note, it's officially Monday (EST), so does that mean we can start the countdown 'til the 31st? Assuming we receive by the 31st, letters must have been sent already or will be sent today.

3 days

Zoogies, maybe it was the grade when you're supposed to grow a lot...lol....But wow 14 is crazy. I'm 15 and I thought that was a big deal. Thanks for making me feel dumb. lol jk haha
Hehe. I moved from 6th to 8th. There were some obscenely tall people, but it really wasn't that bad. At least, from my perspective. Who knows. I may have been short but never noticed. I'm pretty sure the Lizzie McGuire person moved from 8th to 9th.

Are you kidding!? That's every CCforumer's dream! To walk around MIT's campus and have people go, 'hey, is that you? zoogie?' I would be in heaven. If I get into MIT, I'm going to get a custom-made shirt that proclaims 'ZOOGIES' in tremendously large letters on the front and back. :D

Static, you'll still be here next year to hang around? Won't you? Won't you? ...:D Not that i will. Unless I get in. In which case, sonar, it's a race.

I'm counting down 'til the 31st anyways. Zoogies day. To get my RSI letter would be most convenient. Also would stink a bit if it's a rejection letter...

Assuming that I get in as well, it's on :D

You're on! :D

(March 31st wouldn't be too early, would it? Hehe...)

Yeah, no kidding. I'm 15 too and people here make a huge deal about my being amazingly smart and whatnot (i tend to respond with my (in)famous eye roll). Looks like I was right though, I'm not so smart after all. lol

But - the more I think about it, the more I realize, I probably shouldn't have skipped a grade. It just means entering into the big scary adult world a year (or for zoogies, 2 years) earlier.

sighh...We all rush through life so fast....

i'll own all of u and start the RSI 2006 thread in june

we haven't even gotten any acceptance (well for me, rejection) letters yet and we're already thinking about next year's RSI thread?

Hah - I wished I would have learned of the AMcs, RSI, and all those olympiads earlier so that I would study them in my elementary school years . THat would be better than skipping grades. ;) Unfortunately, it didn't happen. And my bro did hear of them and now he has a HUGE advantage over me. :(

ANd I just looked at my DUPont essay - I FORGOT TO DOUBLE SPACE AHH!!

Holy crap - one person from my school got into Caltech three years ago and he only had nominal research after his junior year + not as many science/math ECs as me... He was...quite relaxed unlike me. he just responded to my flood of questions...LoL..

ugh i'm so mad at CEE for being so darn late this year! keeping you guys on the edge of your seats!

i'm mad too! of course i'll totally forgive them if they admit me....
but looking at everyone else's stats (and remembering nghi's from a thread i read in sophomore yr and e-mailing him a bit) eh...that's not gonna happen. so i think i'll just continue being mad

Wow all you guys are so negative, thats such bad karma, think positive, I'm going to get in and so are you. Well maybe not you, but me for sure.

lol spyder, but for a low acceptance rate like RSI's, it's better to be pessimistic.

I've tried to think about exactly what I'll do to celebrate if I'm accepted... just so I don't go entirely crazy and run around screaming in my yard throwing other pieces of mail in the air as I go.

In two minutes I'll go get my mail. Will I find a rejection letter from CEE? Hmmm...

By the way, does anybody else have today off?

Spring break, right here.

spring break... but i didn't apply to rsi... just bargin in on your thread... damn gov's school keepin' me from applying AND they haven't told me if i got in yet either... WHERE'S MY LETTER

Yea i have spring break too. and btw guys spyder's not as cocky as he seems. He jus pretends to be like that. otherwise why would he have backups. btw out of curiousity nyone here get interviewed for the Boys State Program? Cuz i wanna know wut they ask

Yah, spring break here too... and a dentist appointment in a couple of minutes.

The letter is here...

ReasonableSon did not get in. Ouch.
