'tis jen! :p

lol yeah i know she told me like 2 seconds after i posted that.

yay for alice!

'tis ferry-ferry-poo.

ferry? Furry! (oh uh... I'm starting to accept this nickname...)

Well, "ferry" with the "fer" as in "jennifer." Otherwise it seems to come out of nowhere.

Maybe so, but it still came out of nowhere.

Hrm.

Since I've been offered an internship at MIT already this summer, I think I might do that instead of applying. That way, I can still study flying and stuff.

Yay for options!

Why don't you still look into the internship, apply to RSI, and if you get in, do RSI? Unless flying >>> RSI so much that you wouldn't even give up 6 weeks.

Good point. In fact, after talking to my mom, that is going to be my plan exactly.

Damn! How did you get an internship at MIT? Did you apply, or just talk w/ profs? Do you live in Cambridge MA?

I did it last summer also. I just emailed a professor and set something up. Granted, he kind of knows my dad, but I did it mostly on my own. I live an hour outsdide the city but my dad works at MIT so I get rides in with him.

Your dad works for MIT?

Yeah...I'm guessing most of us don't have that connection....

Yeah, but he's a coach.

:-P

Granted, he still has full benefits and I could go there free......

But STILL. He's no professor. Then again, he does know a whole bunch of professors...

Wow. I sound really dumb. I should stop posting.

Question: Kids of university professors get free tuition right? Do they get automatic acceptance too? It seems silly if they don't (but it would be dumb/unfair if they did), because they can say "Yeah I have a full ride to MIT, but I got rejected :(" lol idk.

Wait.... I emailed a post doc at MIT w/ my idea, and asked for some guidance. Obviously he didn't respond.

Should I be targeting profs, grad students, post-docs, who?!?

zogoto: on the boards there was a story of girl who was rejected from Yale, even though BOTH of her parents were professors there.

I was definitely puzzled by the rejection....

Anyone who has a parent with full benefits gets free tuition. That being said, acceptance is obviously not automatic. That'd be ridiculous. I have an incredibly high chance of being rejected just like everyone else.

I personally emailed a professor and spent my summer working with the Phd students that were working under him. He checked in on us, but I was essentially working with his students.
