oh wait, i'm going to pollute this holy rsi thread with an issi question: yin yin, did you get a username/password for the participants only site?

i was just going to ask you that question!! no, i didn't get one and I thought i was the only one because the email alluded to a nonexistant password and user name?!?!

Two more finals, a week at Boy's State and then off to RSI!!!!!

...And yet, we still don't have a handbook and I know not my mentor. Has anyone been contacted yet?

I'm interested in applying next summer. Do you have to apply during your junior year or can you apply senior?

Nevermind, I just read some info on the site and now I'm really depressed because I missed the chance of a lifetime...hopefully I can find another research-based program for next year.

no worries.

Any recommendations for the summer after senior year?

summer after senior year, go to the website of the college nearest year, go to the page of the department you're most interested in doing research in. email some professors in that department and ask if you could join them in whatever research they're doing. that's always good. or you could apply for an internship at a tech company or research lab. getting paid's always good before going to college.

Thanks! I'm near the U of R, so that could work. This year I applied for research at the Lab for Laser Energetics but got rejected (along with a genius science-orientated friend, which led us to wonder who the hell DID get in) so we'll see. But I don't want to be some random lab assistant. I was thinking about doing research into cheap synthetic gelatin substitutes for use in photography, but I'm not sure who to contact for THAT.

or you could apply to issi. hehe

Anyone heard from mentors yet?

Corina, I thought you said earlier in this forum you're going to MIT but under your name it says MIT or U of Arizona.

And yes... ISSI is tight. Hoping to go next year. Hopefully they don't discriminate in admissions against Israelis (that is want people from elsewhere).

DDPSC, something happened recently and I can't go to MIT because of $ (no, we didn't lose money in the stock market. lol :)) So if I don't get reconsidered for financial aid, I'll be going to U of A.

btw, who are the counselors??? everyone's trying to find out...

Counselors are Arhana, Marshall, David (from St. Louis also .... surprised I don't know him), Sue Lin, and Soumya.

Hopefully everything works out for you.

What exactly is ISSI?

Basically the RSI of Israel (except a little shorter). Held at the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot, Corina could probably elaborate .... especially in about a month and a half or so .....

10 people from rsi got into issi, but only 9 are going because one's parents won't let him. but it'll be a sweet reunion.

Won't let him .....

Why would you apply in the first place if you wouldn't be allowed to go.

By the way, there's really nothing to worry about there. Rehovot is a nice spot.

uh robert? ...nooooooooo!

yeah robert.

btw- corina, are you going to nobody? i might nobody at the end of issi because arhana is a counselor.
