Announcement end: Thu Apr 10, 2008 11:59 pm
Those who took the 2008 AMC 12 B and scored 97.5 or better will receive an invitation to take the 2008 AIME.

Those who took the 2008 AMC 10 B and scored 120.0 or better will receive an invitation to take the 2008 AIME.

For comparison, the corresponding qualification scores last year were 100 on the 2007 AMC 12 B and 115.5 on the 2007 AMC 10 B.

Woot I made AIME and the USABO semifinals, but now I'll get to embarrass myself on both...

Did anyone take the Chem Olympiad Screening?

My school only sponsors the math one... which is somewhat upsetting, because it used to sponsor the others as well..

My school does the AMC and USNCO, we don't do USABO or US Physics Olym.

Of the sciences, I think its because we have a lot more interested in doing chem

aww crud... i suck at math... just one question away from qualification... ><
dang it. last year i heard one of the students at my school got perfect on AMC 12... legendary.

18d:19hr 'til I can check my mail box...(minus ten days if it's like last year)
Anticipation index: 75
Does anyone else feel their heart beating faster every time they check the mail?

hahahaha, no, not really. Resignation is a wonderful thing. o_O

Why do I get so nervous about RSI decisions when I probably won't get in anyways?

shravas, because everyone wants to know if they're good enough.

meh, not if u r good enough... just if ur app is close enough the the area the dart is likely to hit... on that wall... xD

I don't want to go back and count, but there have definitely been a good number of Rickoids on this thread say that basically no one knew why they got in, except for the people with international ____ Olympiad medals, etc.
I think we've all got a shot. The thing that's keeping me from breaking down at the thought of not getting in is that if I don't get selected, I'm not any dumber for it, but it means that there are plenty of people out there that share my passions and abilities, if not moreso. Not to say that I wouldn't go bonker's if I got in, of course

That's actually a really nice philosophy, DMRenrel. If we've taken the time to apply and haven't yet entirely given up every shred of hope at the possibility of maybe, just maybe, getting in, then probably some chance does exist. And naturally there are lots of other programs quite similar to RSI (albeit not RSI and not free :P) filled with lots of other people willing to fill out lengthy applications detailing their interests and determined to demonstrate as much as possible the extent of their passion for science...

haha ditto. I want to go so badly, but there's very little I can do to change my circumstances either way. Do you think it's excessive to send a second update on my application?

Anticipation index: innumberable.

u gotta be kidding me guys... I wanna get in too! but still, anticipation index: 35... i mean... what's the point of getting so anticipated? just calm down and play some halo (in my case, halo 1 trial version... yeah.. pretty weak i kno), relieve stress >.> the more you worry the more you stress urself... and dun think about any philosophies... live ur life, every second of it, get in RSI or not xD

Anticipation Index: 30

I've got so many other things to worry about, like AP tests (especially AP French and AP English), then there are math contests, SAT, ACT

lol- well i'm really stressed out right now after having missed school for the past 3 weeks for different field trips and whatnot and now having to make up all the missed work. Then.. a lot of results come in the next few weeks and we're not even seniors yet. I applied to several camps: one already came, and the rest are coming within a month, and SAT scores also come out next week, so there's a lot to be looking forward (?) to.

I agree. It's certainly true that lots of people who are "good enough" don't get into RSI. Everything that I hear about selection says that those last ~200 applications are all "good enough."
