Research Science Institute ( RSI ) 2008

@ foucault; what do you mean by 5 years of experience? do you mean 5 years of math competition experience (usamo qualifying, etc)? how does one get combinatorics experience?? haha

congrats btw : D

@dsl09: well, how much experience have u had with...calculus? haha im sure u can quantify it if u had to, right? >.< but yea, ive been doing research in it too.

And thanks!

Foucault: Congratulations!!!

I still haven't recieved a letter....sigh

By the way, are you from TJH?

My child received the acceptance letter. We live in midwest.

What state?

is it MN, IL or IN?

Midwest shouldn't be getting letters sooner than Georgia. :-(
We're very close to Virginia.

got my letter.... rejected (NJ) :-(

lol i nearly had a heart attack when i saw "on behalf of the board of trustees" through the envelope

Not true. It depends on flight schedules entirely ... Midwest can get letters before GA. If I had to guess, the state is in one of these three with chances like MN 60%, IN 30% and IL 10%. Correct me if I am wrong ...

wait so it says "on behalf of the board of trustees" for everyone?

"on behalf of the board of trustees of the center for excellence in education, thank you for applying to the 2008 Research Science Institute (RSI) for academically talented high school students in math and science. The competition for the few available places was most intense, with many more applicants than we could accept. We regret that we are unable to offer you a position in RSI 2008."

I'm sooo nervous. I don't even know why though because there is a 95-96 chance that I will be rejected anyway.

I agree with you 100%

Oh my God...I am accepted!!!!!!

Good luck to you guys still waiting.

well i am checking my mail in an hour to see if my rejection letter has arrived yet. I remeber my dad asked me one day when my rejection letter from RSI is gonna come.

Momofclass09:"My child received the acceptance letter. We live in midwest."

Congratulations! I'm guessing the "child" is in Illinois since the mom had mentioned it was a highly competitive state....

boooooo...my letter didn't come today (NJ) . hopefully it comes tomorrow lol, i really don't want to wait for monday

i just checked my mail. I did not get a mail either.

does it mean you're rejected if you dont get your letter first?

(thats wut alot of organizations/colleges do)

I got in (MA). Congratulations to all who did, and see you in the summer. My condolences to those who did not. Good luck to those who live too far away ;-p.

I got a letter (NY). Didn't get in however. Totally expecting that anyway, and will be more than happy doing research at a local university. Congrats to all those who got in though!
