How many alternates are there?

Rejected...

Still nothing...

well, yea since u can actually find other opportunities instead of waiting on RSI... besides RSI sucks when it comes to intel and siemens... in fact, my friend told me that at siemens this year, everyone who was a regional finalist was rejected from RSI, and she's also an intel finalist this year, so i'll hear from her when she comes back from that.. and i believe there are about 20 alternates right?

Yes, there are other opportunities if you look hard enough. In response to previous comments, lets remember that 25% of all the Intel Finalists where Rickoids (so RSI sort of dominates at this stuff). Many Rickoids also did well in Siemens and to those of you who got in to RSI, you are in for a great experience.

For those of you who didn't get in, the reason so many other people at Siemens and intel got rejected from RSI is because it is just that damn tough to get into. With that in mind, take note and find other opportunities so that you too can be doing great things. Try not to beat yourselves up about not getting in. There are other, better things you could and should be spending your valuable time on.

um 25%? My friends says more like 0%. Plus their website says they had what, one person as a finalist last year?

Ok, give me a break.

I would hate to say that you are bashing RSI because you didn't get in, but after reading your thoroughly expressed heartfelt desire to attend RSI, I find it hard to believe otherwise.

RSI does not suck at any science competition. 10 RSI kids are intel STS semifinalists this year -- a higher percentage than many (if not all) similar summer programs.

I'm all for finding other opportunities, but RSI does not suck, and no one is going to pet your ego by pretending that it does.

Sorry for that hopeful, I'm not bashing RSI because I didn't get in. -_- But really, you would expect a summer program as presitigous as RSI to better though; I was really surprised when she told me this too you know (even after I was rejected).

(plus i am not saying RSI sucks either -_-

Actually, RSI had 10 finalists and 23 semifinalists this year. So, yes, that is 25% of the finalists. Lulz.

rsi ate $50 from me. ****

dododo, much as you'd like to think that rsi sucks now, your 'friend' doesn't know what she's talking about. here's the story straight from CEE: Ten RSI Alumni in Intel STS Finals | Center for Excellence in Education

@repetitivestrain: did you derive your name from RSI?

oop sry guys, i take back what i said then

FORGIVEN (may the good lord bless you and give you eternal prosperity)! ;). don't worry about it. no one is mad, we are just defensive.

Rejected. I feel mean but it feels better knowing I'm not the only one.
Oh well, sigh ... just have to make other plans...

hey, i'm not going to RSI but my boyfriend is. does anyone know what the daily schedule is like, or if it's different for each person depending on their reasearch and mentor? how much time to RSI participants have off? are they allowed to leave the MIT campus? i'm going to be in Boston in the middle of the six weeks, and it'd be convenient if we actually got to see each other. maybe someone who's been to RSI in past years can answer this.. thanks!

lmao almost everyone got rejected dam

who else on this board got in?

well...Cliff told me that they are holding my decision until I get my green card, which I have no idea when. Why go through the trouble if I'm already rejected? But chances are I won't be a resident by June so... not in.
