Research Summer Program Ideas

Does anyone have any ideas for research/science summer programs that are still open for applications? Preferably ones that don’t require you to pay and provide room and board? I live in the middle-of-nowhere (think farmland) area of a competitive state (i.e, there are no local programs) and my parents refuse to pay the tuition fees for other programs (honestly, I do not blame them - I understand their financial concerns).

So far I’ve applied to RSI, Jackson Laboratories SSP, my state governors school (which is quite competitive), MITES/E2/MOSTEC (I’m not a minority, but I’d figure I’d try anyway - can’t hurt), and will be applying to Clark Scholars, and potentially the George Washington Carver Summer Internship Program (not so sure about this one). Because of the crazy admission rates, I’d like to apply to a few more to better my chances of being selected into at least one.

(For background, I’m an 11th grade female with an interest in biomedical engineering with a focus on the microbiome, stellar grades and test scores, typical science type-extracurriculars, etc., one previous summer research internship (cannot participate in it again due to logistics), and one major national-type science award (its hard to explain)…)

Anyone have any other ideas or similar research experiences? I would be grateful to hear your ideas!

My daughter attended this FREE program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison the summer after junior year and I recommend it with no reservations. 6 weeks.

Are you an URM student or from an under represented Asian back ground such as Hmong? If so, I can look through my materials for you.

Reading fail on my part. I see where you stated you are not a minority
