Research

What if you have other things that make you stand out rather than research? Is research something that you MUST do in order get into the top medical schools? Can't I do something else that compensates for it?

Generally the top medical schools have 90+% of their students having conducted research as undergrads.

Sorry.

do you know what type of research can be classified as med-school-approved research? Any type of research that gets one involved in science and/or lab work? Or does it have to be truly stellar with papers published, etc. (I mean, I know truly stellar is, well, truly stellar research and looks very good, but do you think something small is considered research by a med school adcom)?
