I’m attending McGill in the fall for a BEng (Civil) and I’m having trouble picking between Douglas and Upper Rez (Gardner/Molson/McConnell). I’m a renewable scholarship recipient so I am guaranteed my first choice, AKA one of these two.
Some background info: I’m from the East Coast of Canada, so I’m worried my small-town humbleness won’t jive with the super smart over-achieving affluent kids that seem to be in Douglas every year (from what I’ve heard). So that’s a concern for Douglas. It is also a little pricier, but I hear the community is worth it. The building itself is also so beautiful and it would be amazing to live in it.
On the other hand, the Upper Rez people seem to be more in tune with my personality, but I’m worried the partying rep will make it hard for me to study (worried about losing my scholarship), and the buildings are frankly depressing. But it’s cheaper!
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Also if any one has any general McGill advice, help me out please; I’m super excited!
