Is there anyway I can establish residency in the state of Michigan and start paying in-state tuition at the University of Michigan? I am international student who currently lives in Windsor, Ontario. I am an incoming freshman and will be paying OOS tuition. If my parents decide to move to Michigan or work in Michigan, or if I in anyway can prove financial independence from my parents (I am currently F-1, and have an I-20 form) can I pay in-state?

No (10 char)

You must be a permanent resident or US Citizen AND a Michigan resident to qualify for in-state tuition.

since you are an international student, there is no way you can get instate tuition. Even if your parents move here, they must have to pay at least a minimum of 2 years of michigan income tax and property taxes to show residency. Of course, you need to be a PR or us citizen. Proving financial independence will also not help. If it did, every oos/international student would do this.
