Residential Colleges?

After being admitted and receiving a generous FA award, I've been looking over the many housing options offered by Northwestern. One thing that caught my mind was the mention of residential colleges, and they seemed interesting. I just don't know if I would fit the typical student profile.

I consider myself to be more studious and quiet, but I definitely like to have fun. However, my idea of fun isn't really partying until you pass out, but more going out to dinner (either Evanston or Chicago) or watching a movie in the dorms. I was looking at both Shepard and Willard (I really like the South campus housing options). Any more information on these?

So far, my list of top housing establishments is as follows:
-Allison
-1835 Hinman
-Shepard
-Willard
-Sargent

Willard pride exceeds all. At least it seems like it.

Thanks for the replies, you two. I guess I’m just more interested in each of the dorms’ social reputations. Like I said, I’m more of a chat/do homework together/play games sort of guy, and I’ll probably attend parties a couple of times, but with very little drinking.

You’d fit in in Allison from personal experience

Considering I’m a Willard resident and Viviste is an Allison resident, just pick one. How “fun” a dorm is relies solely on its residents to make it so.

Sounds like you’d fit in at Slivka and CCI.

Shepard/Williard are the more social residential dorms. Williard is also really far away from classes and a good 20 minute walk to Tech. Sargent is filled with mostly upperclassmen. Allison has a very nice dining hall and I hear from my friends that the bonding varies a lot by floor.
