Residential programs

since everyone’s talking about housing now, i thought i’d ask: how many new freshman want to join a residential program? and for anyone who knows: are they made up of mostly freshmen or upperclassmen? which are the most popular?

i definitely want to join Arts and Literature at Hamilton House.
anyone else looking in that direction?

Can someone explain to me what residential programs are?

They are do-nothing programs that serve as nothing more than a backdoor into where you want to live (the quad for example)

That may be true for most, but speaking from experience, the Modern Languages Program is far from do-nothing. But yay! using meal plan for class credit - it had to be useful for something!

I hate meal plans! I still have over 60 left and there's only a month of school left! Ahhhh oh well there goes $700 down the drain.. (yes, the "gourmet" meals of Penn dining are $12/meal)

I kind of figured them a way to live with people with similar interests, and the chance to meet people who may help you in your intended major or future career. I'm into photo and media so I was thinking aobut the goldberg media and comm program. do you know how hard they are to get into?

Oh so they're housing programs for people with similar majors?
Are these houses separate from the other dorms or what?

No, they're housed within the regular dorms.. you have to write an essay to be accepted into most of them.. It is a tactic that a lot of people use to get into the Quad, but it doesn't always work (I tried.. i'm in hill, lol)

Do a lot of people apply to get into these? Would it be worth it to try for one or is normal housing better?

what's so special about the quad? Sorry for the barrage of questions.

quad's just where a lot of freshmen are, the most social dorms etc, it really depends what you want. my biggest fear is that in the residential program but that there won't be a lot of freshmen...is that a legit fear, or are the programs geared toward freshmen?

I think a lot of the programs attract freshman, but the thing is, even if you are in one, it's just your hallway pretty much.. and since all the hallways are very connected, you will certainly have a chance to be friends outside of your "program"

Could anyone plz provide me the link to some explanation about the different btw prizes of residential programs and btw each dorm building?

I really wanted to do the music program at Hamilton, but Im not sure about living in a high rise, or with mainly upperclassmen; are my anxieties justified...?

IMHO the quad really deserves its reputation as a better place for freshmen than the high-rises. I wouldn't go for a high rise my first year unless I were MADLY in love with the residential program.

Anyone got an opinion on Gregory? It says 45% Fresman, but the thing that interests me the most is the Film Culture Program.

does anyone know anything about the entreprenurs' residential program in ware?

second mike's question. and to neo, i heard that it's like anti-social dorm #2 (KCECH = #1) i think. and run down.

I dunno for sure!

I really like the music program, but are you suggesting that its not worth doing as a freshman?

I dunno what to do :(
