Respectable Business Schools in the New York Area

Which Business Schools in New York have good undergraduate business programs ? There's obviously Columbia and NYU, but what else?

Baruch College, which is part of the CUNY system, has a very good undergraduate business program.

Academic quality of schools falls dramatically in the NYC area after Columbia and NYU. Why NYC? You might be eliminating very good options by fixating on the city.

Columbia does not have an undergrad business school, only a grad business school. Look into Fordham (in the Bronx, but easy access to Manhattan).

Columbia recently created a concentration in business management which includes core management, marketing, entrepreneurship classes offered by the B-school to undergrads, core classes in stat and econ, as well as electives in econ and psych. Columbia also created a financial economics major two years ago. So someone with an interest in business or finance can get that education.

I think with Columbia’s location in NYC and these new offering, it will only grow stronger on the recruiting front. In a few years the financial economics and business concentrations might become highly sought after.

If you like NYC and business you might be gunning for wall street. in that case i’d recommend strongly considering other schools. if you are indeed looking at WS, do some research on feeder schools and figure out if there are any you like and could get into.

It definitely would help to know 1) why nyc, 2) your stats, and 3) your goals.

^^
Why NYC? Parents’ decision, not mine.

Stats: 90.5 GPA, 30 ACT (with a perfect Reading Score)

Goals: I want to go to a University that has a solid, challenging (Business) curriculum. I’d like to go a Univesity whose graduates have the high job placement rates and are most ready to compete in the business world.

If you’re serious about business, but you’re not going to Columbia or NYU, then consider options outside NYC.

I think you have to convince your parents that you need to go to school outside NYC. The falloff after NYU is too dramatic.

Binghamton or Rutgers.

I really wouldn’t consider those two to be that strong, however.
