McGill Waitlisted
I still have Lafayette + Rice + northwestern Coming back but I’m not to confident in Rice or northwestern. I was wondering if I should still be confident in Rice or Northwestern, or should I just move on or commit to OSU or U of T to get the better housing option.
I would advise waiting to commit unless you feel that you are a good fit at UofT or OSU.
I am surprised McGill has waitlisted anyone at this point, usually they just delay decisions until later in the cycle. Computer science is among their most selective programs and has exceptional strength in AI.
I’m a canadian citizen so it’s still cheap, however OSU with scholarships is cheaper. I think i’ll just wait it out think i could have a good shot at rice/McGill waitlist.
@TomSrOfBoston I have, it’s why i didn’t really demonstrate a ton of interest in the first place. Ik i’m wrong for doing it, but it was just an easy school to add to my list bc it’s good, and there’s not a lot of supplemental stuff.
OSU requires/guarantees housing for the first two years, so no worries on that front. When you find out about honors or not, that could also affect your housing options.
@Derek17 just curious but have you ever looked at Queen’s in Kingston? Do you know how this compares with other Canadian universities? I ask only because my younger D may consider it as an option in two years.
@rjolly Queen’s is one of the top schools in Canada. It has more of an undergraduate focus than McGill, Toronto or UBC. It is also the most “American” of Canadian research universities in that it is in a small city that is remote from any big cities.
Thanks @TomSrOfBoston my family had the opportunity to visit Kingston 4 years ago during a vacation through out Quebec and Montreal. We stopped in Kingston during our drive from Quebec City and Toronto and I really fell in love with the place. I asked about Queens b/c I know that the university was highly ranked during the 90s but there seems to have been a lot of fluctuation among Canada’s top universities. Also I don’t see a lot of posts about the school on CC. Hence the curiosity.
