Thanks for taking the time to read,
I retook my second SAT and increased from a 1520 (Reading:540. Writing:500. Math:480) to a 1640 (Reading:540, Writing 490, Math 610). I'm worried that I retake it colleges would view me less as I would take it for a third time (according to my dad), but at the same I'm worried that if I do retake it then my score would go down (since I'm a bad test taker as it is). Should I retake?
Also I know 490 in writing/1640 overall is below average but the school I want to attend is University of Washington, My reading and math are well in the range but my writing falls ten points short. Would I have a good chance with that score if I kept it as is? (3.41GPA, extra-curricular highly, and essay is strong). Or re-take with the chance of going down/third time.

Retake if you think you might do better. Thinking that you might do worse is not a reason to not retake it, since colleges take your highest score from all sittings. The only reason you might not retake it would be if it would simply waste your time because you don’t think you would do better at all. Furthermore, a third time is not that excessive, though I wouldn’t retake it any more after the third try.
