Retake SAT for 4th time

Is it okay to retake the SAT for the 4th time. I’ve heard that if you take it more than 3 times, it looks desperate and bad.
I got a 1380 (690 R+W, 690M) in October but on the one I took in June I got a 650R+W, 710M with a composite of 1360. Although I’m not going to major in a science or math, I really don’t like the fact that my math score went down to 690. Also my essay score for the October one is really bad. Should I retake it for the 4th time?

Have you taken the ACT? Some students do better on one test than the other.

I wouldn’t retake the SAT for a fourth time; your scores did not change appreciably and most schools will superscore anyway.

If you want to show that you can score higher in math, you can take the Math 2 Subject Test.

I wouldn’t advise one of my own kids to take it 4 times. Its not worth it, a lot of trouble and time and it probably won’t change much from the ballpark you are in. Instead just take the ACT and compare your results and adjust your college choices accordingly.
