Retake SAT in my case?

My HS SAT was 1900

I'm a freshman who is looking forward to junior transfer for Fall 2010 (not 2009 because of financial reasons)

I took a practice SAT exam yesterday and my score increased to 2280. (I memorized words and read a lot of magazines and newspapers - great boost on Verbal section.)

If I study for it two hrs/day until June, I'm sure 2350 is possible.

My question is this: many say SAT score do not matter much for a transfer applicant. However, I'm looking at top schools that require SAT score submissions.

Do you think this much significant increase will be a plus or will they just look at it as an expected natural growth?

From my understanding, top schools will receive applications from a lot of 3.8s, 3.9s or even 4.0s. That said, I feel I need another way to set myself apart from the pool. What's your thought?

whats a top school to you? an ivy? yes, top schools will want to see a 3.9-4.0, thats pretty much standard, anything much less and its not worth applying

a lot less emphasis placed on sat's for transfers...moreover, taking your sat's as a sophmore in college i doubt will mean much (especially when you have scores from when you, like most other applicants to those schools, took them in hs)
