All suggestions about wording are welcome.

What is the existing wording of the questions? It would be easier to make suggestions if we could see what you're interesting in discovering.

tmi- yes i took writing, that was my best section but i don't remember what the actual number was
and no i haven't called admissions people because i feel like i've heard it enough from them all that it doesn't matter which one you take
and no i don't really know people who got into the schools i'm looking at

thanks for all of your responses guys!!

i think i'm just going to take the SAT IIs and see how those go and then if they're good then use the SATs since i have to send them anyway and if not then focus on retaking the ACT and doing well
does that make sense?

As long as you take the SAT II tests expected by the colleges to which you are applying, and you check their policies about submitting the SAT I versus submitting the ACT, it should be useful enough to do your best on ONE brand of general admission test. Enjoy your preparation, and good luck in your college applications.

tokenadult, asking again:

can you post some of your questions? Several precise and objective questions were posted in earlier threads (e.g, would the hypothetical SAT score report listed in the thread, with superscore being hundreds of points higher than the total of any of the 3-4 SAT sessions it is based on, be treated identically to the superscore for all purposes). Are you planning to use those, for example? I hope you are actually seeking new information rather than trolling for support of your past statements on this subject.

I met the admission officers in person last night at the Exploring College Options program in my town. The short answer is that retakes are not a problem. The longer report appears in a post to a thread just opened the other day.
