I just got rejected by Stanford SCEA, so I'm debating whether or not to retake my SAT2s...I have Math Level 2: 800, Chem: 740, USH: 720. I am reconsidering retaking USH and Chem. What do you guys think? Other than that, I have ACT 35 and SAT 2240 (superscored, 2220 highest single sitting)

Wondering the same...

My stats:

CR - 720
M - 700
W - 770

I have Math II 710, Chem 680, and Lit 630

Should I retake anything in January? I am applying to Harvard as an engineer with (I think) pretty good ECs and leadership.

That's unlikely to make a difference for Predator, but might for SSH23 (who has different scores). See what else you can do to demonstrate your "intellectual vitality" (Stanford's phrase) for your other target colleges. Good luck.

Holy geez Predator, I have a Math IIC: 800, Physics: 740, Chem:720, and a SAT 1: 2230 (single sitting).

also wondering here.

math2: 740 (
bio M: 710
chem: 710
physics: 780

i did take bio chem and physics over in december but the math is still very weak :(

sat1:
CR: 720
M: 740
W: 790

In general scores over 700 are good enough. It's not a hard and fast rule, but I have the impression Harvard prefers a well rounded class to well rounded kids. So it may make sense for your essays and activity lists to emphasize some aspect of yourself. If there is an outside recommendation you can add - it might be a good idea - as I recall that was a no-no at Stanford. Predator, I don't know where you are from, but at our school in the NY suburbs of NYC only legacies and athletes are accepted to Stanford while the east coast schools are much more predictable.

I appreciate the advice. Sorry to steal your thread, Predator.

The Chem is already my second try, so I think I may just focus on the Literature test. I am glad that my writing score is so high, but I know that nothing will be good enough for schools like Harvard.

I have tons of science related ECs, published research (albeit not a national journal), have done well on the national latin exams, and am sending a supplemental rec from my research mentor. However, I put nearly no time into studying for the Lit test last time, so I think I can get a large increase. January scores are perfectly fine for Harvard, right?

Thanks again.

mathmom, I am in a relatively well off suburb near Dallas (average household salary around 104k/year). Yeah, Stanford's SCEA decision seemed to be really random this time. I was just doubting my scores since I'm trying to pinpoint what I can improve for my RD apps vs. EA.

If you are very confident in your ability to get perfect SAT2 scores then by all means go ahead and retake them.
