Is it worth it to retake a 1530, for top-tier schools?
I could easily get 1580 but I was being stupid during the test and thought that the writing section was 45 minutes instead of 35, so I allocated myself 10 mins a passage (I was intentionally being slow - could do a passage in 5 mins usually)
Sure, why not, if you have time before the deadlines.
There’s the cost of around $100 (I’m an international student), and this is a nontrivial amount of money, especially if it will not make a difference in admissions. A 1530 seems pretty high already, but the thing is that I know that I could do better. The only thing bothering me is if this is consequential at all
Don’t retake no reason to a 1530 makes you competitive for every school on the US of A
What are your subscores and your intended major?
Mathematics. 790M, 35W, 39CR
I say there’s no point in retaking. A 1530 is already a really competitive score, and your math score is near perfect.
Instead of spending $100 to get your score 50 points higher, you could work on your essay and your extracurriculars.
