Retaking a 2100

I am looking at a lot of top schools and was wondering if my scores were sub-par to give me good a chance. I don't know how important they are or if my ECs and academic record can help make up for them. I have been angsting big time and can't decide whether or not to retake or not.

Georgetown
Brown
Rice

Bowdoin
Middlebury
University of Rochester
Vanderbilt

I have taken 4 APs so far. 6 APs next year. Always taken Honors/accelerated classes.

ECs...main ones:

I am part of the teeen club at the museum and I am the treasurer. We qualified for the Team American Rocketry Challenge Nationals. Sadly placed 60th but it was out of 800. so that isnt too bad.
volunteer during summer to teach inner city youth sailing in san francisco.
(400+ hours)
Play in quartet for community functions for free(200+ hours)
research in boise state University biochem lab
Orchestra/Honor Orchestra/Chamber Orchestra all competitive to get into.
Internship at a public health office
Varsity Rugby, Swimming until 10th grade....then i moved and I havent been able to pursue them further...
Varsity tennis at my old school.....JV tennis at my new one.
I am way more into sports like biking and sailing where there arent many teams

you can..
if you feel that you can do significantly better it might be worth it, but otherwise your score is competitive

take your time to decide

why not retake it? I always think it’s worth a try unless you took 3 already. But even without a better score on the SATs, I think you are a good candidate for these schools.

Im kinda of in the same position as you. Looking at some of the same colleges with about the same gpa, class rank, and solid extra curriculars. I also got a 2100 and am retaking so i say go ahead.

If you’ve only taken the SAT once, I would suggest you retake in the fall, with the primary goal of getting the CR above 700.

I have taken full length 3 practice tests that were timed and everything. I raised my original practice test score about 300 points in about 2 months. But only once for real.

how many times have you taken the SAT? if you’ve only taken it once, I would strongly suggest retaking it just for the heck of it. Sometimes the experience of just taking it twice can be helpful.

I had a relatively good score my first time in March, and I didn’t prep at all for the June SAT and did much better. I think mostly it was because I knew which sections I got questions wrong on and I was better able to concentrate because I had this mantra that this is the last time i’m retaking and if i do better, great, if i don’t, oh well.

The experience might be worth retaking fo and colleges won’t mind if you’ve only taken it twice. I would suggest prepping maybe a little; i was kinda stupid just going in with no prep.

Hope that helps!

First of all, your 2100 is outstanding - congratulations! But since a 2100 is below the median for all your schools other than the last two, I’d retake. Be sure to use all the resource of the collegeboard.com website, including the practice quizzes and the full-length practice test.

Where can I find accurate SAT ranges and median scores?!?!
Everywhere seems to report different scores.
Does anyone know them for the schools i mentioned earlier?
