Retaking for fourth time...

Yes, another one of those "retaking" threads.

I'm looking for a 1270...for 100% scholarship in Florida.

My scores:

Jan 2004: 620M 570V
May 2004: 650M 510V**
Oct 2004: 680M 560V

**I took the SAT prep class, and really was confident my math score would exceed 700, so I decided to take it easy on verbal, figuring I could not do better. JAN and OCT better reflect my verbal scores.

I'm pretty pleased with my October score since it wraps up my other two pretty well, but I need that 1270. My composite of course is 1250..so that is only 20 pts away. I dont think I need to take it for college, and I probably wouldnt send it, especially if I did worse.

What I need: 590V or 700M

Question: Should I continue taking the SAT until I achieve this score, or is taking it more than 3 times not such a good thing to do. Better give me a good reason, because I pretty heavily decided to take it again for that amount of money.

Afterthoughts: If you thought yes, are there any directions you can lead me into studying to get my verbal up, or even my math up. According to the pattern in my scores I should get a 710M, but I doubt that wont come w/o some type of practice. 590V should be somewhat easy, although it hasnt happened for me yet.

You should check with the university---many of them AVERAGE
your scores once you've taken it 4 times rather than take your top verbal and top math score from different sittings.

Call and ask--however, a full scholarship is definitely worth the effort
and 20 points should be more than possible. Best of luck.

PS Hands down, my son says the 10 Real SATs book did the most
to help him get his original 1270 to 1400.

I agree with asking the college. I have taken it four times, but not all in one year like you. I took it 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade year.

Is there a way not to show them my 4th+ score...and only submit it to bright futures. If they average it, I would do the above, otherwise maybe I would tell them. Or do they have to know?

I've applied to UF ED and for summer, if that helps. They werent even sure if they were going to accept my october scores because they were past the application deadline. So if I get accepted, it cant hurt to take the SAT again right?

Well good news....

I got into UF w/o my SAT scores (23 ACT) cuz of a messup.

And I got a 1260 (590 V and 670 M) on December SAT.
So with the 590 V + 680 M, it was well worth it!!!
