Retaking my 2nd year of college?

Hey guys! So I have a question/dilemma. I am currently in my 2nd year at community college. I spent my 1st year of college at a private university.
I want to qualify for Rhodes Scholar and Cume Laude but I wouldn’t be able to qualify for them next year because my gpa is a little on the low side. I was thinking that I would just stay at community college for a extra year and then transfer to a 4 year university as a junior but then I would most likely be taking a extra 2 years overall on my undergrad. Is it possible for me to transfer to a 4 year university after this year as a sophomore rather then a upcoming junior? I’m satisfied with the grades in the classes that i have gotten this school term so I wouldn’t want to retake those but i I would just not want to move up a grade yet. I don’t think i’m ready academically.
Thank you so much in advance!!

I am also 19 years old…because I know someone in another thread said that as long as your enrolled before 19 or something…

You can transfer whenever you want to. There is nothing that says that you have to complete your Sophomore year at a community college before you transfer. Many students find that it is easier and more seamless to transfer after earning an Associate’s degree, but if you will be accepted by a university without that degree, then go ahead. Just be careful to review the advantages/disadvantages. Many universities have articulation agreements with community colleges that include a stipulation that transferring-in students with Associate’s degrees will be deemed to have completed their general education distribution requirements for a Bachelor’s degree. That can be a big advantage and a time/money-saver.

^ That’s not entirely true though. It really depends on the college. Some colleges have different minimum requirements for transfer admissions and it’s all based on units. You might be in your sophomore year in college but what’s more important is how many units you took. So I ask, how many semester credits will you have when you apply?
