I wanted to know if the Ivy league schools look at all your ACT scores or look at the one that you choose to submit?

It varies between the schools.

Would it look bad to have taken the ACT 3 or 4 times?

IMO, someone who got a low score then retook the ACT several times looks better than someone who got a low score and didn’t bother to take it again.

I took it 5 times. It’s no big deal.

Did your scores dramatically improve each time? Or it was a small change at a time?

Kind of a bit of both. I got a 30 on my 1st two ACTs and a 31 on my third ACT. Then I studied a ton for the next ACT and got a 34 on it (7 on writing, though), and then I got a 35 (8 writing) on my last ACT.

So a small jump between the 2nd and 3rd tests and between the 4th and 5th tests, but a huge jump between the 3rd and 4th tests.

^^^

Ok so I am a rising senior, I got a 31 when I took it for the first time in June with no studying (didn’t have time then).

When you say a ‘ton’, do you mean practice or just go over different rules and memorize different info. I’m just wondering because I am aiming for a 33/34 next time. I got a 27 in English and have studied a lot of grammar rules and went over punctuation rules since then. I plan on taking a few more practice tests for English. Do you thinks it’s possible to hit 34+ for English (I got 11 on essay btw).

^Certainly possible, but grammar/punctuation rules alone won’t be enough for a 34+ (unless that was the only thing that kept your score down before). Rhetorical skills also make up a large portion of the english section. Questions like…“If the auther were to delete the underlined portion, the paragraph would primarily lose:” and “the author is asked to write an essay describing ____. Does this essay fulfill that requirement?” You can easily get better at these by taking multiple practice tests and learning from answer explanations at the end of each test. Nice job on the essay:]

^ Thanks domer, actually, I got a 16/18 subscore on the rhetorical part and 13/18 on the grammar part, I consider my rhetorical skills to be quite strong, having taken AP Comp this year, getting an A in the class and a 5 on the ap exam. I think I was jus not prepared enough, since it was my first time.

i am a urm and have taken the act 4 times. The first time i got a 25 with a 6 on writing and my last time i got a 30 + 10 on writing. With a high GPA and Amazing recs. would i have a chance at upenn ed?

and when i say last time i meant 4th time
