Retaking the SAT/ACT for management consulting???

Hello,

I'm just finishing my sophomore year at BYU and I'm very interested in management consulting. I have a 3.99 GPA and I'm applying to the accounting program this summer. I realize that I need to focus on landing a good internship next year, but I'm especially concerned about firms asking for my ACT or SAT scores. I was a total slacker in high school and did poorly on those tests.

ACT - 22
SAT 1160

Should I retake those? I've heard people advise against it but I've never heard a reason why. Will it hurt me in interviews that I took them in college? I'm pretty sure that BYU puts your test scores and the year of the test on your transcripts. Any recommendations on how to deal with these low test scores would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

As far as I know firms don’t ever ask for ACT/SAT scores in the interviewing process, are you sure they’d ask for them in your situation? Mostly they care about your college schoolwork (grades, etc.) and what you’ve done in college that would prepare you for that job…

^That’s not true. Many require ACT/SAT to be listed on the online application.

I’d ask your career center if your that worried about it.

I know some firms request your SAT/GMAT scores. But in reality, they’re not going to be the deciding factor. Besides, you can easily use the time/$ that you would use to study and retake those exams to do something else that would be more impressive (in an interview/on a resume)
