Retired teacher writing rec?

For one of my letters of recommendation, I had the option of either asking my current AP chem teacher (who hasn't known me that long) or my honors chemistry teacher from last year who retired; I asked my honors teacher.

Now for the problem. I invited her to my Common App page as a teacher, and now she's worried that the fact that she's retired will reflect badly upon my application because she's not technically a school official any more. Can she still use this form? Or should I invite her as an "other" rather than a teacher?

Thanks!

My S had the same issue - due to budget considerations, our school district offered a lot of early retirements, and several of his teachers took it. He asked a former teacher to provide a recommendation, since he felt that teacher knew him and his work better than a brand-new teacher.

The retired teacher agreed; S entered his email address on the Common App; teacher submitted the recommendation. S opted out of seeing any recommendations so he hasn’t seen what he wrote, but I think it should be fine.
