Hi, have any returning students received their financial aid award? Ours has not shown up in OPUS yet, and it’s becoming frustrating at this point.
I feel your frustration; I had totally expected mine on June 15th, but turns out that is just the date for when they start notifying people. I received my package 2 days ago, so it’ll probably be your turn soon.
Ours came out on 6/25; our financial aid officer said they were being released alphabetically.
@doubleeternity On OPUS, does your balance still appear to be $30,000+ for the Fall 2015 semester (assuming that you are attending Emory College; for Oxford College, my balance is still around $27,000 for the Fall 2015 semester)? I received merit-based aid to Oxford College which still has not been deducted from the total balance for the Fall 2015 semester. I’m assuming that any financial aid one would receive would be deducted from the balance displayed on OPUS at some point in time.
@FLStudent97 : At many universities, it isn’t deducted until the actual due date of the payment. I don’t know about merit aid, but this was the case for my grants associated with Emory Advantage. Also, didn’t know you ended up choosing Oxford, I remember your dilemma. Hopefully things work out well for you!
My son was billed for the fall 2015, but did not receive any financial aid award as yet. A financial aid office staff simply told him to wait when he finally had a chance to speak with her on the phone after several tries. I guess they are not known for prompt and kind responses to inquiries.
@bernie12 Yes, you commented on my post a while ago.
Ah, yes I went and looked and now I remember. I appreciate that many of you guys put serious thought into your decisions (not just simply going based on “prestige” and “school pride”). Shows that we definitely got some good folks this round. We always do, but often the more reflective (or ones in more dilemma like situations that end up choosing Emory) types don’t appear on CC, that is for sure.
Ours has not come yet. Is it normal? The fa office does not respond to our inquiries.
I hope you’ve been emailing the financial aid officer assigned to your last name; frankly, I’ve never had much luck with them answering a phone message. Our f. aid officer has been pretty good about responding within a day to an email. The Student Services billing staff are very helpful about deadlines, payment plans, whether a scholarship or private loan check has been credited, etc. Our Student Services rep. actually walked a re-issued check (which had been lost by Emory the first time) to the our f. aid officer’s desk to make us feel better.
I’ve emailed them twice, once to the fa office and once to our fa counselor, and received no reply.
