Returning Student Financial Aid

Have any returning students gotten their financial aid for the upcoming year?

Yes, I have!

You usually get it by mid May as long as you did the fafsa/CSS by mid April or so. If you’re still waiting it might be a good idea to check the financial aid portals that they have, which list if you’re missing any paperwork. Sometimes a student/parent W2 or non tax filer form hasn’t been submitted yet so your file is incomplete.

I got it earlier today

Curious… was there a huge difference in your FA award from previous year(s)? My D18 will be an 1st year this Fall but we are trying to anticipate the 4 year costs/awards. We do not expect to have any change in our financial status.

@ASKMother I’ve spent two years at Vanderbilt and I essentially have a full ride through need-based aid. My financial aid stayed pretty much the same for the two years. One small change is that my work study eligibility has increased from 1200 to 2700, which may impact my ability to take out some loans. My total cost has stayed the same despite increasing tuition costs. I will add that even if your financial aid changes slightly, the financial aid office is very nice and will hear you out.

My D’s aid got better each year. We had a second child start college when D was a senior, and her aid went way up. Vanderbilt really does have excellent financial aid.
