Returning Students after a LONG break??/

Are there any students out there who are Re-Entry students???

How Long between college careers.... I think mine is the longest!

Let's discuss how our OLD transcripts affect admission NOW!

Oh tigneey, this is a depressing thread!

Ok, recovered now. I think they follow us to the ends of the earth unfortunately.

How long is long? > 5 years mean it doesn't matter, usually.

Unfortunately not true for many, many schools.

I don't think I'm grasping the entire idea of this thread.

Tig seems to be an older student, correct? She is anxious about returning/transferring, right?

Sorry Godsend. I started thinking about those transcripts but I wasn't getting a sense of anxiety from the OP.

Two colleges requested my high school transcript and SAT scores. It's been 8 years since I left high school. When I called my high school district's offices, I was transferred to their archives department.

yes, iam an OLDer student. my transcripts go back 18 years.
applied to: UCI, UCLA, UCR, CSULB, CSUF, CalPoly Pomona, and USC
GPA: 3.62 (without old transcripts)
All prereqs done
IGETC done
Accepted: UCI, UCR, CSULB,CSUF, Cal Poly Pomona
Pending: UCLA and USC
Rejected: none

You should have applied to Columbia's schools of General studies. It is a college for returning students but you still get the same Columbia degree.

YEah I wish, unfortunately I can't leave California.....something tells me my husband would be a little ticked lol!

Lol good call. A husband would most likely not enjoy that.

Tigneey, I went back after many years, too. I finished my first BA 22 years (!) after graduating HS.

(Long story short, Family Guy reference: like Brian, I had only one class to finish).

Now I'm back five years after the first degree for my second major, prepping for grad school. By the time I finish, it will be 30 years after I graduated HS, but I don't look at it that way.

I'm going back to pursue what I wanted to originally, but didn't have the resources, time or support for way back when. Life's too short to sit around wondering or lamenting what might have been. :)

ColinPB- oh don't worry, I am not lamenting, I was just wondering how old transcripts impact the admission process, obviously I am doing MUCH better now, but I don't know how admission counselors account for that ....

Good Job on your accomplishments...Its never too late to acheive your goals!
