So, Im thinking of using my long Chicago essay for the University of Maryland, College Park. I wrote the function essay. A good idea? Too bizarre?

Come on....

it's ok, if they have the same topic for the essay

and if you have a good essay

PM me if you want me to look over the essay

I don't know, especially for a public university. If it's a true University of Chicago essay, I'd be hesitant. I wrote my essay like it was for Chicago, even though I wasn't applying there; such is my personality. I eventually had to do alot of revising to tone it down for Brandeis. One thing I did was change my opening and concluding paragraphs alot to make it seem more cohesive and "normal". Even if its for a topic of your own choice essay, I'd approach it like this--if it needs to be explained by a long prompt, it needs to be edited.

Also, you did the function essay? The one equating yourself to mathematics? That definitely could be heck for the applicant reader if they don't know anything about math (mine was about literature, so I had to do alot too).

umm it should be fine

as long as you don't mention Chicago in the other essay
