I am a freshmen at college about 45 minutes away from home. Long story short, I hate the school I am at, it is in Boston which was the place I wanted to be, but other than that, it offers nothing else that I want from a school. I am a nursing student currently, and I most definitely would like to stay nursing. No schools accept nursing students in the spring, which means I would have to wait the fall. Would it make sense to transfer back to my local community college for a semester and save a ton of money while getting my gen eds done in order to transfer next fall? Thank you.

Hmmm…Well, if you hate where you’re at then I would say by all means, transfer away. The only caveat to transferring to the community college then transferring again to another college is that some colleges look at a two-time transfer oddly. They will wonder why you transferred and this is especially hard to express when there is no place on the application to explain your circumstances.

Some people may tell you to grin and bear it for another semester but I disagree. You only get one undergraduate experience and so why waste it in a place you hate. You seem to have found many positives to transferring to a CC and then to your desired college so, why not?
