My DD was accepted to two BSs and we start revisits next week. Of course we have read all of their materials and know the official line on most things. Does anyone have any advice on how to learn more about the softer issues of campus culture? What are some good questions to ask?

The good questions to ask are the questions you have! There’s no such thing as a stupid question - other people might be dying to know! And congrats to DD!

I was told by a friend who has had three kids go to three boarding schools that one of the most important things is to find out about how the strike system works in reality, not just what it says in the handbook. (One of her kids was thrown out of a school for multiple minor infractions.) Any ideas?

Congrats to you and your DD. A current parent from our area called my mom and told her she’d answer any questions she had prior to revisits. So, I’d suggest asking the school to have a current parent contact you. It seems easier to get a perspective of the rules from a current parent than from an AO.

Be sure to talk to the students in particular. They’ll have their own opinions and be much more open about how things really are… not just like “everything here is so great”.
