Revisits

@AppleNotFar …I am all about the pictures and even more so now that DS is in the “it irritates him” stage! BWAHAHAHA!

Today I revisited at NMH: although it was somewhat awkward between the revisit students, it was a generally enjoyable experience. The best part: it was raining!!! Rain in CO is so rare so this was really exciting for me :))

@nico.campbell What did you think was awkward? How did NMH compare to your expectations?

Cate revisits are definitely fun!

@HMom16 it was slightly awkward because AOs were kind of tryin to break the ice between the revisit kids, but it was kind of strange and didn’t necessarily work out. I would say that it did compare to my expectations overall, although nothing was amazing. The freshman boys dorms were a bit rough, but I expected that

@Nico.campbell I was at NMH with my daughter today as well! She had a similar reaction to the icebreaking session with the revisit students. I thought the food was pretty awesome, but maybe they make sure the revisit day menu is pretty good. We are also going to Milton (Friday), Exeter (next Monday), and Choate (next Thursday). Good luck with your choices!

I think NMH is known for having quality food.

I wonder how it’s going to be for me at MX this Sat and Exeter on Mon being a 9th grader in a swarm of 8th graders. Interesting I bet. :))

You’ll definitely have company with other 9th graders as admitted students and even 10th graders. Plus, some are repeating a year so no worries about feeling older.

Yes @doschicos Cate sits on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and it is only a 5 minute drive to the beach! What a nice way for the kids to wind down after a long day - swimming in the ocean and having fun on the beach-definitely unique and a great selling point for Cate!

As we’re talking about checklists, most focus on where you think you would be comfortable now, which of course is critical. Equally important is where you think you might be stretched over the next 4 years. If your sport is key and you are going to be an impact player as a freshman, how will the program allow you to develop through your senior year? This is often easier to work through for sports than for some other aspects, but it is really important as well. And easier to lose sight of in imagining your today self in a particular environment.

All that being said…I have to admit - I’m all about the quality food! :))

I’m currently at Choate revisits. It’s been so amazing!!! We arrived early so that we could have a quick tour and the guide (she was a student) was so nice! We then listened to some speeches and watched a student panel: all of the students seemed great. Then the students separated from their parents to go with a current student. I was with a freshman and it was great. We went to his Spanish class, then we went and got lunch. Then we had some extra time so we went to his dorm and hung out with his friends for a bit. They were all so funny and nice and really genuine. Then he dropped me off in the i.d. Lab and some of the revisit kids got to fool around with the tech in there. When his class ended, he came back and we walked to the chapel together. We listened to Choate’s orchestra; they were scarily good. Then he had to go, and my family walked to one of the gyms where all of the clubs had stands set up. Overall an amazing day: everybody was so kind and welcoming. You could tell that the students’ smiles weren’t faked, and that they all really did like to talk to the revisit kids. Great day

Sounds like you had an AWESOME day @Nico.campbell !! Good luck with the process, I’m sure you’ll end up just where you need to be. Glad to see that you are off to a great start!

@“Nico.campbell” tell us about the food

That really does sound awesome @Nico.campbell but I’m with @AppleNotFar! What about the food?!?!

Haha. All the food talk reminds me of the book “David and Goliath”. Anyone else read it?

@AppleNotFar @buuzn03 Hahaha :)) . In my opinion, the food was better than the food at NMH. There were SO many options it was insane. I just had some grilled chicken (which was really good), but there was pasta, salad, sandwiches, toasters, desserts, rice, vegetables, and 3000 more things that I can’t even remember. It was like nothing I’ve seen to be honest :)) . The dining hall was packed with kids and everyone was talking and I don’t think my tour-student-person could walk 15 feet without introducing me to someone. Everyone was so friendly and you could tell that everyone was friends with people outside of their grades, too.

lmao just realized that I was in ur ID group

@applejuice007 ahaha no way. When everyone was doing the vr and just kinda standing there? :))
