Shina, this program is for those who are 100% sure...

if you decide to go to Rice/Baylor, are you in a binding agreement to go to BCM?
have people in this program tried to go to HMS or JHU for med school instead of BCM in the past?

You're welcome. Good luck!

The program is not binding. It's just saying that you are guaranteed admission to Baylor after you attend Rice, but you are free to decide to attend another medical school, or none at all.

and, of course, if you don't go on to BCM, you will be required to take the MCAT.

NobleGas, yes, I do realize that, which is why I believe I wouldn't get in, because I won't sound nearly as passionate in my first essay as other applicants - it's something that can't be faked. :) I was pressured to apply/send my in essays partly because of my parents, who are adamant about me going to medical school (which is the mindset of almost all Asian parents). I'm still deciding between going to graduate school for pharmaceutical engineering and medical school. If Rice/Baylor had been binding, I would not have applied, even though I'm leaning a lot more towards medical school than pharmaceutical engineering.

It's not whether it's binding or not...it's just the fact that you'd be taking the seat of an individual who is truly passionate.

If they end up accepting me, then yes, I'd feel extremely guilty, since I would be taking away a seat from another applicant who is a lot more passionate about it than I am. However, considering my credentials, there is no possible way that I can possibly get in--it was a fluke enough that I actually got into Rice in the first place. I merely applied to the program to placate my parents, who were adamant that I should at least try. I am very much prepared to go about it the ordinary pre-med way.

is it MID march yet?!
I read on a forum from last year that they didn't know if they were finalist until the last week of March. If I need to get plane tickets to Houston, I'd like to know soon.
Is there any indication of when we might expect to hear?

looking at the forum from last year, it kinda look like we may not get calls until the 20th or so.

I was really hoping that wouldn't be the case this year. A lot of people seemed to have gotten a call on like the 28th. That doesn't leave a lot of time.
Not to mention the WAITING.

So, to clarify... if you move on to the next round, you get a phone call. If you don't...you get a rejection letter? How does this work?

i just got an email notifying me of interview (around 11PM EST)

Same here. :]

nice, congrats!

congratulations!!!

good luck to all finalists!

got an email too:)
