I just received a call from Dr. Villareal at BCM. I am officially a Rice baylor scholar. im so excited and happy, it has been my dream. did anybody get it from waitlist?

you and me both baby :)

I'm so happy for the two of you! I actually turned down R/B but I didn't want to post bc I was afraid of negative responses from diehard fans. It makes me feel so good that the spots went to people who really wanted them and who will make the best out of their experiences. Good luck to you!

Thank you! I can't wait to start in the fall now... And who knows, maybe it was your spot that one of us filled in ;)

where will you be going to college?

Now im looking at the MD/PHD admission at BCM, which i will persue. is anybody familiar with the program? will rice/baylor scholars need to take the MCAT for this program. the program is amazing...we get full tuition and a stipend of about 20K to 30K a year to live while in training.

I'm not Rice-Baylor, so I'm not sure, but if you're in the Rice-Baylor program, I don't see why you would need the MCAT--you've already been accepted to med school, but you can always call your contact with the program and ask.

lol Serge pretty soon you're going to be taking over the world! Today: medical school tomorrow: king of the universe.

I'm going to Duke after much agony... I thought I'd be going to school up in Hanover up until three days before the decision deadline. The problem was I didn't love Rice and I felt no connection. I wanted to love it and I tried to force myself to see the good everywhere I could but ultimately I couldn't. The program is amazing and I'm sure I'll be kicking myself in 3 years for passing it up... but in the long run I think it's for the best. If this program were at Duke, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

Lol I dont think Baylor will look upon me too kindly if I have the nerve to reapply in a few years...

na man, i highly doub that rejecting them affects your chances of admision. you see...if they tell u that getting rejected doesnt affect ur chances, why should that? dont worry man, u clearly have all the attributes and u will get into baylor again. ill see you there maybe?! Duke is a great school and u made a good choice if u felt Rice wasnt for you. u will do great there and go to a really good medical school of your choice. now, world domination lol...havent really thought about that but thanks for the idea...maybe i can incooporated that somehow into my PHD thesis. yea i emailed them to find out if i would have to take the MCAT for the combine PHD/MD program.

I believe there is information in the blue binder you received during your interview that states the MCAT is required for MD/PHD program and to apply for scholarships. (I know there is info for sure, I just think it was in that binder.)

there is info but it doesnt mention if the MCAT still applies for the rice/baylor scholars...im still waiting for the reply email. ill keep u posted. :D

i just discovered that my cousin got a 45 on her MCAT...and T on her essay./

"During the undergraduate phase of the program, students concentrate on the academic interest of their choice. Medical Scholars Program students can major in any of the 50 subject areas offered at Rice University. Regardless of a MSP student's major, all Baylor College of Medicine premedical course requirements must be completed with no grade lower than a C; furthermore, the science grade point average must be maintained at 3.0 and the cumulative at 3.2 as a minimum. The MCAT is not required but is advised for scholarships or application to Baylors MD/PhD or MD/MBA programs."

a 45...u must be kidding..?

nope...i'm not

a 45 is the highest u can get..i was looking at the chart for it and that score is like more than two standard deviations and the amount of people that got it i mean percentage wise is like almost zero...but ok

so you're implying that im lying? just because it's not likely, it doesnt mean it's not possible...but, ok.

na im not implying that ur being mendacious..im just saying that thats very hard...

oh ok :) in that case..im really super proud of her.

u should be man. im just glad i dont have to take tha MCAT.
